The year was 1988, when I was greeted at London's Heathrow Airport by Kwasi and Steve, both architectural graduates of Oxford University. I was there to study and tour several European countries, in order to experience and develop my knowledge and understand of art, architecture and interior design.
Though I was far from home, Kwasi and Steve, with their lighthearted sense of humor, immediately put me at ease. Kwasi grew up in Africa and his father was a well known English Architect. The two young men were filled with knowledge and passion for architecture. After our long days of architectural touring, I enjoyed their custom of winding down with a lager and lime.
The image above is courtesy of The Harp, a 40 year old establishment that recently won the "Pub of the Year" award from CAMRA (Campaign For Real Ale). The atmosphere in this Pub, like many well appointed pubs offers a sense of "Home-away-from-home" coziness.

English Pubs often have tile floors; I selected and Eco-Friendly concrete tile by Granada. The color is inherent in the material, so it will not chip away, and therefore becomes more beautiful with time.
