DESIGN & DEMOLITION: The construction phase began, while furniture and finishes were being selected. The first meeting with this wonderful couple revealed a desire to keep furnishings in the family, while transforming the interiors into a reflection of their love for the Caribbean. The husband and wife had vacationed at the parents, Hobe Sound, Florida home for many years. During our second meeting, I presented a few sketches to propose a new floor plan that would meet the design goals. Jeremy Walters, the architect, began working with me on a new layout. The general contractor, Lance Erickson, of Lance Erickson Builders Inc, got started on the construction estimates.

I inventoried all of the existing furniture to determine what would stay and be incorporated into the new design. We narrowed down the concepts and had multiple floor plan options to consider.
During the demolition phase, additional requirements were revealed. The ceiling had to be removed.
The walls at foyer, family, dinning and living room are removed.
Demolition is a long, tedious, and often toxic task.
Dumpster's were filled with debris.
All openings are enlarged and hurricane impact windows and doors were installed.
